SCRAP METAL IS A GREEN INDUSTRY

Recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions by significantly saving the amount of energy needed to manufacture the products that we buy, build, and use, reports ISRI.

• 1 refrigerator

• 1 washing machine

• 10 lbs. of aluminum cans 

Save the energy equivalent:

• 450 gallons of gas

• 29 gallons of gas  

• 20 gallons of gas 

• 2 gallons of gas

METRO RECYCLES SAFELY

Metro Recycling’s certified technicians are trained to safely and properly dispose of certain hazardous materials found in everyday recycling items. We help the environment by properly recycling:

• Mercury switches from old cars

• Freon from air conditioners and motor vehicle air conditioners

• Freon from refrigerators

Metro Auto Recyclers in Valparaiso received its fifth Clean Yard Gold Level Certification from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) on November 27, 2018. This achievement was awarded for diligence in protecting the environment and community, and by passing a rigorous multi-point inspection.
